Arctic : Russian Geographical Society

The Arctic has fascinated people with its mysteries since time immemorial. The enigmatic aurora borealis enticed the tireless travellers to challenge the icy realm, and the scientists – to grasp the laws ruling this top-of-the-world country. In the 21st century the Arctic is becoming a subject for various-level scientific and public debates. Ecology, natural resources, the Northern Sea Route, the unique social environment – all this makes the Arctic a truly special region which requires careful approach and constructive dialogue.
