Vladimir Kotlyakov, Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society, President of the RGS Moscow Centre, full member (academician) of the RAS, Director of the Institute of Geography of the RAS, doctor of science (geography).
Goal
Develop a programme to preserve the unique ecological system of the lake Baikal, by balancing the interests of the society, economy and nature.
Main objectives
1. Put together a professional team covering a wide range of skills; secure support of the local authorities, relevant Russian and international organisations.
2. Create an inter-disciplinary international dialogue platform to discuss sustainable development of Baikal natural area.
