Media Council is a non-profit body created under the jurisdiction of the Russian Geographical Society. The Council was founded in November 2009 at the initiative of Mr. Vladimir Putin, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Media Council is comprised of prominent Russian political figures and newsmakers.
The Media Council’s main tasks are to cover the activities of the Russian Geographical Society in mass media and to promote efforts aimed at nature preservation. The Council helps the Society to implement projects that aim at dissemination of geographical knowledge, development of scientific tourism and formation of ecological awareness. The Media Council helps to create films, shows and educational documentaries devoted to nature and geography of Russia.
